The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published its latest annual report on work-related health and safety in Great Britain for 2023 – 2024. The figures emphasise the importance of proactive safety measures in every workplace.

- 1.7 million working people are experiencing work-related illnesses

- 776,000 of these are related to stress, depression, or anxiety

- Employers reported 61,663 work-related non-fatal injuries

- 12,000 lung disease deaths each year are estimated to be linked to past exposures at work

- £7.1 billion was the annual cost of workplace injury in 2022-2023

- The financial toll is staggering, with the cost of injuries and ill health from 2022-2023 reaching an estimated £21.6 billion

- The industries most affected by work-related ill health were human health/social work, public administration/defence and education.
